Over the weekend an opinion poll was published showing Andy Burnham holding a small lead in the Makerfield by-election - three points behind were Reform.
The Greater Manchester mayor is Labour's candidate in the contest and is hoping to win the House of Commons seat with a view to going on to challenge Keir Starmer .
Even though there is a clear anti-Labour - and thus anti-Burnham - majority in Makerfield, the presence of the Restore Britain candidate could split that vote and hand victory to Labour
