The man who killed Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2022 has been sentenced to life in prison.
Abe was serving as a regular lawmaker after leaving the prime minister's job when he was killed in 2022 while campaigning in the western city of Nara.
A court heard that Tetsuya Yamagami, 45, had been 'determined' to shoot Abe when he used a handmade gun to kill Japan's longest-serving leader during a campaign speech in July 2022.
